The Rancho Los Cerritos Historic Site will host a free concert Sunday in commemoration of its transfer from the Bixby family to the City of Long Beach in 1955, event organizers announced.<\/p>\n

The event will feature a performance by the Band of the California Battalion\u2014an authentic recreation of a Civil War-era Union Army band that will perform on period instruments designed by Adolph Sax.<\/p>\n

The group will be led by Gary Thomas Scott, dean of the School of Creative Arts and Applied Sciences at Long Beach City College, officials said.<\/p>\n

Guests will be able to arrive at 4:30PM; music runs from 5:30PM to 7:00PM.<\/p>\n
