A beautiful upright piano was recently donated and dedicated to local coffee house Viento Y Agua in Belmont Heights last week as part of a collaboration with the Long Beach community and Sing For Hope<\/a>, a New York-based arts non-profit that places artist-designed pianos in public spaces around the world as a vehicle to make arts more accessible to the public.<\/p>\n

The new piano titled, “Proud Corazon” was donated by local music teacher Adriana Manfredi and painted by local artists Amanda Blaine Dalton<\/a> and Jordan Young<\/a>, with help from students with Manfredi’s music studio, Adriana Manfredi MFA Studio<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The front of the piano is a vivid geometric piece with bright sunset hues and deep blues that, when viewed straight on from a distance, emulates the appearance of a crashing wave. The lid of the piano is adorned with puffy clouds, a cheery sun, vibrant marigolds\u2014painted by the students\u2014and a calavera, or sugar skull. The back of the piano features the red, white and green of the Mexican flag.<\/p>\n
