This weekend we’ve found two holiday pop-ups to get your Christmas shopping on track, plus a special Hello Kitty pop-up stopping in Long Beach for one day. We’ve found some live entertainment, a place you can get your drink and (drawing) doodle on, plus something for the kiddos.<\/p>\n

POP-UP COMEDY SHOW – HI-LO LIQUOR MARKET (Thursday)<\/h3>\n

From the same folks who put on the weekly comedy shows at Ficklewood Ciderworks, this Thursday, Dec. 9 four comedians will entertain at Hi-Lo Liquor Market in Downtown as part of a new pop-up show by Friendzone.<\/p>\n

What’s sweet about the Hi-Lo Liquor Market (aside from sharing the same, lovely name as this arts & culture publication), is that the market is also part taproom. So, while you enjoy the show, you can sip a few pints and afterward take home a craft beer or two. They’ve got a fine selection.<\/p>\n

Show starts at 7 p.m., but guests are encouraged to arrive at 6:30 p.m. The show is free to attend. Click here<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n

INK & DRINK – SUPPLY & DEMAND (Thursday)<\/h3>\n

Sip a pint while you draw and doodle with other artists at the Ink & Drink art party Thursday, Dec. 9 at Supply & Demand. If you\u2019ve never been before, just know it\u2019s a great place to meet fellow artists in a relaxed setting with some great tunes.<\/p>\n

Supply & Demand provides supplies, such as pencils and pens as well as the butcher paper covering tables, which are stationed throughout the whole bar. But guests are welcome to bring their own supplies if so inclined.<\/p>\n

Ink & Drink starts at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. You must be at least 21 to enter the bar and proof of full vaccination is required. As per city regulation, masks are required while indoors except while eating or drinking.<\/p>\n

The event is free to attend.<\/p>\n

“THE GRINCH” MOVIE SCREENING – 2ND & PCH (Friday)<\/h3>\n

Watch a free outdoor movie screening of \u201cThe Grinch\u201d at 2nd & PCH Friday, Dec. 10 as part of the holiday Movies & Moonlight series at the dining and shopping center.<\/p>\n

From 5-6 p.m., 2nd & PCH will host pre-show entertainment with special appearances by characters the Grinch and Cindy Lou Who, before the movie begins at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n

Early arrival is encouraged so that you can stake your spot along Seaport Way, which will be blocked off to traffic. Guests are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets as complimentary seating is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. There will be heaters stationed outside, though getting a spot near those will also be first-come, first-served.<\/p>\n

The center requests that all attendees adhere to social distancing.<\/p>\n

HELLO KITTY CAFE POP-UP – 2ND & PCH (Saturday)<\/h3>\n

This traveling Hello Kitty business is launching its nationwide tour in Long Beach Saturday, Dec. 11, meaning Long Beach-ers, you get first dibs on all those cute and adorable Hello Kitty merchandise and desserts.<\/p>\n

Shop Hello Kitty shirts, plushies, pillows, enamel pins, thermoses and more. And desserts like macaroons, cookies, madeleines and mini-cakes.<\/p>\n

And for those of you who somehow missed the cultural phenomenon that is Hello Kitty, all you need to know is that it’s a super famous character created by the Japanese company Sanrio that’s now come to include a whole family of cute, or\u00a0kawaii<\/em>, characters like frogs, bunnies, and pandas. Basically, kids\u2014even some adults\u2014go nuts over it.<\/p>\n

The truck will be parked at 2nd & PCH, near Free People, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.<\/p>\n

2nd & PCH is at 6400 Pacific Coast Highway.<\/em><\/p>\n
