When darkness falls over Long Beach, the city lights up in a carnival of illumination.<\/p>\n

Headlights and tail lights of cars and trucks cast strings of white, yellow and red along the city’s streets, bars and liquor stores awaken in a celebration of neon that shouts their names in retro signage that draws both moths and customers.<\/p>\n

Homes and apartments flick on their lamps while bridges and industry also illuminate in order to continue keeping things lit up for business and travel.<\/p>\n

Post photographer Brandon Richardson ventured out recently to capture images of the city as it continued to look beautiful long after the lights, figuratively, went out, and literally stayed on, long into the night.<\/p>\n
