Models will strut their stuff down the catwalk showing off high-fashion designs, to benefit children next month.<\/p>\n

The 55th annual Auxiliary Fashion Show will feature designs from Sue Wong and Lourdes Chavez in an attempt to raise $125,000 for pediatric patients at Miller Children’s and Women’s Hospital Long Beach.<\/p>\n

More specifically, the hospital will use all money raised to build a brand-new state-of-the-art playroom and outdoor patio for patients and families at Miller Children’s.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt means everything to the Auxiliary to be able to help the Child Life Program build a playroom to make the children\u2019s stay more pleasant,\u201d said Margie Penny, 3rd Vice President & Fundraising Chair of Miller Children\u2019s Auxiliary in a statement. \u201cThe Auxiliary is made up of a wonderful group of women and men who gave more than 21,000 hours last year for the children. My personal connection with Miller Children’s started in 1970 when our daughter\u2019s life was saved. I vowed to one day pay back and pay it forward, and that is what motivates me and keeps me going. Also the friendships I have made are a true gift.”<\/p>\n

For nearly seven decades, the Auxiliary members have given more than $15 million to Miller Children’s.<\/p>\n

While Miller Children’s already has several playrooms open seven days a week, the planned new playroom will be more accessible for infants and toddlers, preschool-aged children and teens, according to a statement from the hospital.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe different areas are a great feature because they allow us to offer age appropriate and developmentally appropriate play and learning opportunities for our patients,\u201d said Rita Goshert, manager of the Child Life Program at Miller’s, in a statement. \u201cIt is our job to try and help normalize their experience and our playrooms are one of our greatest tools.\u201d<\/p>\n

The fashion show will take place on February 21 at Hyatt Regency Long Beach, located at 200 South Pine Avenue. It will begin with a silent auction at 10:00AM, followed by the fashion show and lunch at noon. Tickets for the event are $95.
