The Long Beach Tap House, a new concept from the original owner of the Five O’Clock Wine Bar in Alamitos Bay Landing, will take over the space previously occupied by Tavern on 2 in Belmont Shore.<\/p>\n
Owners Dena Jones and\u00a0Brent Scheiber announced the change<\/a> of operations this week\u2014a much-needed ray of sunshine after a year which saw everything from a\u00a0venerable watering hole<\/a>\u00a0to Babette’s Feast close up shop<\/a> in the Shore\u2014and told the Post that they hope to be open within the coming months, specifically aiming for mid-May.<\/p>\n “We are doing a full renovation of the entire restaurant, building a bar and redesigning the kitchen,” Jones said. “[The former owners] had a lot of issues with the health department so we will be openly and frankly addressing all issues and bringing everything up to code.”<\/p>\n Tavern on 2, closed indefinitely in September of 2018<\/a>, faced an uphill battle with both public perception and the health department. In May of 2018, the restaurant was slapped with an assortment of violations, including a vermin infestation with animal droppings \u201ctoo numerous to count,\u201d according to the health report. On top of this, the restaurant\u2019s LLC license had been suspended,\u00a0according to California\u2019s\u00a0Secretary of State website<\/a>.<\/p>\n
