The Catalina Island Conservancy is inviting the public to learn about research and surveys of Catalina’s plants and animals on November 14.<\/p>\n

During this one-day Conservation and Education Symposium, called “Exploring Research on Catalina Island: Flora, Fauna and Culture,” the Conservancy will also educate attendees about the protection of artifacts of the ancient people who once lived on the island.<\/p>\n

Conservancy biologists, educators and research partners will offer short presentations, followed by Q&As, on topics ranging from the ancient mammals that once lived on Catalina Island to the current animals that inhabit it.<\/p>\n

\u201cCatalina Island serves as a natural learning laboratory where people of all ages can gain knowledge about the environment and ecology, and this year\u2019s Conservation and Education Symposium promises to provide a quick overview of projects that delve into the challenges and successes of conservation in our unique Island environment,\u201d said Ann M. Muscat, PhD, Conservancy president and CEO, in a statement. \u201cWe encourage all who love learning and Catalina to join us for this diverse and intriguing series of presentations on the Island\u2019s flora, fauna and culture.\u201d<\/p>\n

The presentation will take place from 10AM to 4PM on Nov. 14 at the Hyatt at the Pike, located at 285 Bay Street. Tickets are $25 per person for Conservancy members and $35 per person for non-Conservancy members.
