{"id":31182,"date":"2022-07-30T08:00:15","date_gmt":"2022-07-30T15:00:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/hi-lo\/?p=30000027617"},"modified":"2022-07-30T08:17:41","modified_gmt":"2022-07-30T15:17:41","slug":"tonys-kitchen-in-bixby-knolls-has-a-little-bit-of-everything","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/esd\/hi-lo\/tonys-kitchen-in-bixby-knolls-has-a-little-bit-of-everything","title":{"rendered":"Tony&#8217;s Kitchen in Bixby Knolls has a little bit of everything"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Anyone who has children knows that you can\u2019t please everybody all of the time, especially when it comes to dining out.<\/p>\n<p>But Bixby Knolls\u2019 new spot, Tony\u2019s Kitchen, has the solution.<\/p>\n<p>Chef Antonio Gomez, 46, with his wife and general manager Nery Ursulo, 44, opened Tony\u2019s Kitchen at 4280 Atlantic Ave. in the former home of <a href=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/hi-lo\/bixby-knolls-restaurants-close-georgies-place-brooklyn-deli\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/lbpost.com\/hi-lo\/bixby-knolls-restaurants-close-georgies-place-brooklyn-deli&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1659208614420000&amp;usg=AOvVaw14PqpcImPNFxpNhgnFU8ZP\">Bixby\u2019s Brooklyn Deli<\/a>\u00a0in early March, and their concept is based on their own experiences of going out to eat as a family.<\/p>\n<p>When the family goes out, Ursulo is always looking for the Mexican dishes on the menu, their kids love American food, and Gomez is the one that likes all cuisines and loves to try new food.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA little of everything\u201d was the spark of their idea, and now it\u2019s become their restaurant\u2019s tagline. Their goal: to create a restaurant where the whole family can eat together and everyone\u2019s cravings are met.<\/p>\n<p>Standard diner-style breakfast and lunch items make it easy to appease the less adventurous, but Gomez recommends some of the more unexpected items on the menu.<\/p>\n<p>Featured items include linguini del mar ($17.45) with salmon, shrimp, scallops and clams in a tomato cream sauce; blackened chicken panini ($11.45), which includes chicken slathered with garlic aioli, topped with coleslaw and guacamole; and the Hawaiian burger ($11.45) with grilled pineapple, teriyaki and jack cheese.<\/p>\n<p>While they\u2019re still working on the decor and ambiance, the Gomez family describes Tony\u2019s Kitchen as a \u201cdreamy plaza that can transport you to Mexico or Italy.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10000073744\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10000073744\" style=\"width: 1110px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/img_3068\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-10000073744\" src=\"https:\/\/img.lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/29123332\/IMG_3068-1110x832.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1110\" height=\"832\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-10000073744\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Chef Antonio Gomez, 46, with his wife and general manager Nery Ursulo, 44, opened Tony\u2019s Kitchen at 4280 Atlantic Ave. in the former home of Bixby\u2019s Brooklyn Deli\u00a0in early March. Photo by Matt Miller.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>When the doors first opened, the couple admits they had very minimal decor and didn\u2019t know how to translate their Italian\/Mexican\/American menu into a visual ambiance, but they were able to work with the neighborhood art school,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/studiopick.net\/\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/studiopick.net\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1659208614420000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1CFRxmnmUYTxyRV4WBbIgV\">StudioPick<\/a>, which led a community painted mural that created the beautiful \u201ctown\u201d inside Tony\u2019s Kitchen.<\/p>\n<p>Tony&#8217;s Kitchen started as a shared space concept. The initial test market began inside El Sol Bakery, 1503 Magnolia Ave. in May of 2020, serving mainly carry-out orders during the pandemic shutdown. But after 18 months, Tony&#8217;s Kitchen quickly proved its concept and gained a loyal following, and in December of 2021 Chef Gomez decided to expand.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have always loved this area, and [the] community in Bixby Knolls.
