East Long Beach’s Zaferia district may be a well-known destination for live music with venues like Alex’s Bar, Supply & Demand and DiPiazza’s pumping out gigs almost every night in Long Beach, but this Sunday, Aug. 28 the 2-mile stretch of the historic East Anaheim Street corridor will be buzzing with live music all day. Even better? It’s free.<\/p>\n

Over 50 bands and DJs from Long Beach, Los Angeles and Orange County will be performing at 11 venues along Anaheim Street, including the three aforementioned above along with other bars, theaters, restaurants, and even a plant shop.<\/p>\n

This will be Happy Sunday’s sixth iteration in the city since musicians and husband-and-wife duo Scott Montoya and Julia Kugel Montoya hatched the feel-good festival in 2017.<\/p>\n

\u201cHappy Sundays means what it says, it\u2019s just a happy day with a bunch of free music and good vibes,\u201d Montoya told the Post in 2018<\/a>. \u201cAnyone familiar with my wife and\/or my work will appreciate the sentiment and personalization put into this event. It all comes from a loving place.\u201d<\/p>\n

Happy Sunday musical offerings have always offered a variety of genres and acts and this year is no exception. Audiences can expect to hear punk, pop, rock, hip-hop and dance music and check out a couple of film screenings. Beer, cocktails and other alcoholic beverages will be available at most venues, however only locations that are restaurants will have food.<\/p>\n

The festival is a walkable event, however, a Big Red Bus will be looping along Anaheim Street to cart guests around (also for free).<\/p>\n
