Long Beach residents have the chance to help children in need while having fun this weekend as ChildNet, an organization supporting at-risk youth, will host its first Family Festival Fundraiser this Sunday.<\/p>\n

\"ChildNet\"Since 1970, ChildNet has provided foster care, emntal health, special education and intensive family support services to at-risk youth and families, according to CEO Kathy Hughes.<\/p>\n

“Driven by our mission to ‘provide safe homes, education and counseling to vulnerable children and families,’ our agency established a continuum of care to meet the needs of troubled, abused and neglected children,” Hughes said. “With corporate headquarters in Long Beach, ChildNet employes over 240 professional staff members who go above and beyond each day to make a positive, meaningful impact in the lives of those we serve. I have had the privilege of working at ChildNet for over 28 years and although the needs are great and the challenges are many, I for one could not imagine doing any other kind of work. We are indeed making a difference and this is a very important cause.”<\/p>\n

Through Sunday’s festival, ChildNet will be raising money not only for its programs, but also aiming to raise awareness of the types of children they help.<\/p>\n

Tickets for the festival cost $50 prepaid and $60 at the door. Children 12 and under are free. Admission includes food, soda, water, live entertainment from Andy & Renee with Hard Rain, a magic show, children activities, a classic car show and other activities.<\/p>\n

Food will be provided from local Long Beach vendors, including The Grand Food & Beverage, Critics Choice, Casa Sanchez, Buono’s Pizzeria, Callaloo Caribbean, Corner Bakery, Cookies by Design and Iguana Kelly’s.<\/p>\n
