The University Art Museum (UAM) at Cal State Long Beach is going through many changes as it not only expands with its new entrance and plaza<\/a> but also finds new leadership in the recent appointment of Brian Trimble as its Interim Director.<\/p>\n

\"Trimble\"Trimble is no stranger to UAM, having been with the organization for nearly eight years and most recently serving as its Curator of Education. That post was appropriate on a multitude of levels but particularly given that Trimble received his Ed.D. from CSULB with a focus in Educational Leadership (on top of his BFA in Ceramics and his MA in Art Education). That has led him to establish a connection with the Long Beach community at large, greater than the museum has ever had before.<\/p>\n

Trimble as Interim Director will not loosen his grip on maintaining the balance between artistic expansion within the gallery walls and educational outreach.<\/p>\n

\u201cPersonally, as a graduate of the university, it\u2019s important to me to continue to grow student participation in museum exhibitions and activities,\u201d Trimble said. \u201cWe\u2019re excited that the new entrance and courtyard will make the museum more visible and welcoming than ever before and we invite the campus and Long Beach communities to join us this fall as we begin a new chapter.”<\/p>\n

Trimble\u2019s recent project, a collaboration with the Getty Conservation Institute to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the International Sculpture Symposium held at CSULB in 1965, reflects his desire to keep the university\u2019s ties with outside resources and connections.<\/p>\n

“With Brian Trimble\u2019s background in education and with his extensive experience at UAM, I am filled with optimism as we navigate through the next chapter of the UAM,\u201d said Cyrus Parker-Jeannette, Dean of the College of the Arts. \u201cI am thrilled to develop a collaborative vision in which our students, faculty, staff and community can be enriched by the upcoming exhibitions and activities.”<\/p>\n

Former Director Christopher Scoates left in early July in order to follow through with an appointment at the Cranbrook Academy of Art and Museum as its director.<\/p>\n
