{"id":33228,"date":"2023-02-28T07:30:05","date_gmt":"2023-02-28T15:30:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/hi-lo\/?p=30000029901"},"modified":"2023-02-28T17:21:37","modified_gmt":"2023-03-01T01:21:37","slug":"cambodian-towns-15th-annual-parade-and-culture-festival-to-return-april-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/esd\/news\/cambodian-towns-15th-annual-parade-and-culture-festival-to-return-april-2","title":{"rendered":"Cambodia Town&#8217;s 15th annual parade and culture festival to return April 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For the 15th year, the streets of Central Long Beach will once again be blanketed in vibrant displays of culture and community this spring at the annual Cambodia Town Parade, scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 2.<\/p>\n<p>The city\u2019s historic Cambodia Town will ring in the Cambodian new year, and this year\u2019s event theme, &#8220;Stop Hate With Love,\u201d is aimed at bringing the community together \u201cin the spirit of love, unity, peace, caring, empathy, and compassion to all dimensions of diversity and raise awareness of anti-racism and discrimination, including anti-Asian hate,\u201d according to a statement.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10000068282\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10000068282\" style=\"width: 1800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-10000068282 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/img.lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/28174536\/extra-frames-april-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1800\" height=\"1200\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-10000068282\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Participants offer gifts to monks during the 14th Annual Cambodia Town Parade and Culture Festival in Long Beach on Sunday, April 3, 2022. Photo by Crystal Niebla.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The event will kick off at the intersection of East Anaheim Street and<b> <\/b>Cherry Avenue with an interfaith blessing at 9 a.m., followed by the parade at 10 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGroups in authentic Khmer costumes, the grand marshals, and other groups from diverse communities\u201d will travel west on Anaheim Street toward MacArthur Park, where the cultural festival will take place from 1 to 5 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The cultural festival will feature local Khmer artisans, music, dancing, food, games and other vivid representations of Cambodian culture. Thousands gather each year to celebrate and take part in the festivities in Long Beach, home to the\u00a0 largest Cambodian community of any city outside of Cambodia.<\/p>\n<p>Volunteers are needed to help facilitate the event, and those interested can register <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSfPX6Zocor1pr70v0KS-cp8FrHFOaUIYry6lknSdatfQXHkRw\/viewform\">here<\/a>.
