Rancho Los Cerritos will be hosting a series of three free\u2014repeat: free\u2014concerts beginning this Sunday, June 22 with the country awesomeness that is The Doo-Wah-Riders.<\/p>\n
For those unfamiliar with the Riders, we are talking about three decades of country music mastery; the band has shared the stage with everyone from George Strait to Garth Brooks, Willie Nelson to Waylon Jennings. They\u2019ve been the back-up band for George Jones and Miley\u2019s dad. The quintet was even featured in that famous-for-Sharon-Stone\u2019s-exposed-nether-regions movie Basic Instinct <\/i>with their track, \u201cGlowing in the Ashes.\u201d<\/p>\n
Up next on July 27 is the Silverado Bluegrass Band offering up some bluegrass realness with the \u201cbest flatpicker west of the Mississippi\u201d as noted by the now-defunct North County Times<\/em>. They will bring on the lonesome-but-beautiful heartbreaking sounds of bluegrass with perfected harmonies.<\/p>\n Lastly, on August 24, roots jazz band Dustbowl Revival will bring on their Americana mix of gospel, jugband, and swing to the Rancho. The Venice-based band, known for their lively reboot of 30s swing in their live performances, describe themselves perfectly: \u201cImagine Old Crow Medicine Show meeting Louis Armstrong\u2019s Hot Seven Band in New Orleans or Bob Dylan and Fats Waller jamming with Mumford & Sons on a front porch in 1938.\u201d<\/p>\n Can we get an amen?<\/p>\n The Summer Concert Series will be held at Rancho Los Cerritos, located at 4600 Virginia Road. Guests are encouraged to arrive at 4:30 for pre-concert picnicking, and are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair. Pets are not allowed.
