No matter how many sedans, crossovers, boxy SUVs or sports models you look at, do not <\/em>leave without checking out this one: the Adoption Waggin\u2019 from Long Beach Animal Care Services<\/a>. This baby\u2019s loaded.<\/p>\n

Timmons Subaru is holding its annual Share the Love adoption event this Sunday (see Things to do, pets to support), and they\u2019ll be paying the adoption fees as well (to qualified adopters, mind you). Cats and dogs from LBACS will be waiting all snug in their little mobile kennels in the Adoption Waggin\u2019, in hopes that a forever family soon will be there. You\u2019ll be able to meet them up close and decide which one will drive off the lot with you. No test drives or trade-ins, but Timmons will have some neat adoption kits for new pet parents, and there will be snacks and beverages.<\/p>\n

Maxwell <\/strong>(ID#A616221) has a puppylike appearance that makes him endearing at first glance. Actually, the little Lab mix is 5 years old, and the endearing factor increases at every meeting. He\u2019s a fun-loving little guy and is really as playful as a puppy!<\/p>\n

You may not be able to judge a book by its cover, but Buster <\/strong>(ID#A616873) isn\u2019t a book\u2014he\u2019s an adorable 6-year-old miniature poodle who\u2019s always ready to go and is as sweet as he looks.<\/p>\n

Mother goddess Venus <\/strong>(ID#A615419) was brought into LBACS a couple of months ago. The kittens got adopted\u2014this beautiful medium hair pearl-gray adult cat was ignored. She\u2019s only 2 years old and has a long life ahead of her as a playmate, a companion and a foot warmer.<\/p>\n

Purrtato <\/strong>(ID#A615189, and don\u2019t you love the name!) is 3 months old. She\u2019s being fostered by one of the shelter staff and is socialized. She\u2019s so ready to go home and play!<\/p>\n

Things to do, pets to support<\/h4>\n

Fix Long Beach Free Spay\/Neuter Clinic, sponsored in part by the Rossmoor Woman\u2019s Club: <\/strong>Saturday, Dec. 8, 9 a.m.\u20133 p.m., Ramona Park, 3301 E. 65th St., Long Beach, free spay\/neuter for qualifying Long Beach residents; free microchips; shots, flea-med doses, dewormers and nail trimmings $10 each.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the law to fix your pets in Long Beach and many Southern California cities. To provide this costly service to our Long Beach residents who otherwise couldn\u2019t afford it, Fix Long Beach offers this service free of charge. Make an appointment through IM or email at <\/strong>fixlongbeachinfo@gmail.com<\/a>;<\/strong> include (1) your name, (2) address, (3) phone number, (4) pet’s name, (5) age, (6) sex, (7) breed, and (8) weight. Standby available at 8:30 a.m. Vouchers are provided through Long Beach Animal Care Services (ACS) Spay\/Neuter Assistance Voucher Program<\/strong> for pets without appointments or dogs too large to fit on the vehicle\u2014they may be used at specified veterinary clinics. For both spay\/neuter and vaccinations,<\/strong> all dogs must be on sturdy leashes and all cats must be in dedicated carriers.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Santa Paws himself (you may know him as Justin Rudd) and his helpers (you) will bring toys and goodies to all the good cats, dogs and bunnies and cleaning supplies for the staff in three shelters: Long Beach Animal Care Services<\/a>, spcaLA<\/a>, Seal Beach Animal Care Center<\/a> and Orange County Animal Care<\/a>. Participants will meet at LBACS\u2019s parking lot, pass out items at the Long Beach locations, and either caravan to the other shelters or just do Long Beach, if preferred.
