Photos by Sarah Bennett<\/em> <\/p>\n The first dog park in the 9th District, and the second to be established so far this year, opened to the public Saturday at Coolidge Park. <\/p>\n Coolidge Park Dog Park–taking over the northernmost portion of Coolidge Triangle’s neighborhood park–is the final reveal in a series of improvements brought to Coolidge Park itself over the last year. The 0.25-acre dog park features perimeter fencing, double-gate entry, separation between large and small dog areas, a drinking fountain, benches and waste bag dispensers and its opening comes about a month after the L.A. Clippers and Kaiser Permanente finished work <\/a>on Coolidge’s refurbished basketball courts, new playground equipment and an exercise stations. <\/p>\n The dog park was built using $35,000 of one-time infrastructure funds and will be the city’s northernmost canine-dedicated zone, seconded by the Uptown Dog Park at Sherer Park. <\/p>\n Residents were already using the park last week, happily leading their furry friends inside the gates and removing leashes for the first time. <\/p>\n “There are lots of dog owners in Coolidge Triangle,” said one resident who was at the park with his two dogs on Friday. “This will definitely be utilized.” <\/p>\n The park was also designed with future amenities in mind, should funds become available. <\/p>\n Read more:<\/p>\n![\"coolidgedogpark2\"](\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/coolidgedogpark2.jpg\")
“Coolidge Park has undergone a real transformation,” said 9th District Councilmember Steve Neal. “Last month we installed new basketball courts, a playground, and exercise equipment. Now we’re completing the job, by unveiling this great new dog park. It’s all part of our ‘Uptown Renaissance’ improving our park facilities and the quality of life in our neighborhoods.”<\/p>\n\n
