The Garage Theatre, Long Beach’s most beloved independent theatre company, announced its 2014 season this week and it includes, among others, a West Coast premiere, a revolutionary musical and a play centered around a 50s quiz show.<\/p>\n

In celebration of the group’s 10th anniversary of the occupation of the black box theatre at 251 E. 7th St., the Garage Theatre is calling its 2014 season “10 on 7th” and will be produced “in collision” with another avant garde Long Beach theatre company, Alive Theatre. <\/p>\n
14-Year-old Garage and its slightly younger sibling Alive decided to join forces in the summer of 2012 in an attempt to combine the efforts of the small companies<\/a>. Until 2011, Garage’s year-long seasons included six plays, including its annual holiday melodrama, however the departure of key players forced Garage to drop to five shows for its 2012 season. Similar losses for Alive meant that the two were almost destined to collide.<\/p>\n “For the past year and a half, The Garage Theatre has been colliding with The Alive Theatre and the merger has gone swimmingly and breathed new life into the space, the process and the work,” said Danielle Dauphinee of Garage Theatre. <\/p>\n The 2014 season includes the following five shows:<\/p>\n Sans Merci<\/em> <\/strong> Night And Her Stars<\/strong> <\/em> Threepenny Opera <\/strong> <\/em> Pink Milk *West Coast Premiere*<\/strong> <\/em> 11th Annual Holiday Melodrama<\/strong> <\/em> Season subscriptions are on sale now at thegaragetheatre.org<\/a> or by phone (562) 433-8337.
