{"id":3511,"date":"2014-03-06T00:00:02","date_gmt":"2014-03-06T00:00:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lbpost.com\/articles\/life\/arts-culture\/garage-theatre-in-collision-with-alive-theatre-announces-2014-season\/"},"modified":"2014-03-06T00:00:02","modified_gmt":"2014-03-06T00:00:02","slug":"garage-theatre-in-collision-with-alive-theatre-announces-2014-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/esd\/hi-lo\/art\/garage-theatre-in-collision-with-alive-theatre-announces-2014-season","title":{"rendered":"Garage Theatre (In Collision With Alive Theatre) Announces 2014 Season"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Garage Theatre, Long Beach&#8217;s most beloved independent theatre company, announced its 2014 season this week and it includes, among others, a West Coast premiere, a revolutionary musical and a play centered around a 50s quiz show.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignright size-full wp-image-27963\" style=\"float: right;\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/garagetheatrelogo.jpg\" alt=\"garagetheatrelogo\" width=\"350\" height=\"147\" \/>In celebration of the group&#8217;s 10th anniversary of the occupation of the black box theatre at 251 E. 7th St., the Garage Theatre is calling its 2014 season &#8220;10 on 7th&#8221; and will be produced &#8220;in collision&#8221; with another avant garde Long Beach theatre company, Alive Theatre.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>14-Year-old Garage and its slightly younger sibling Alive <a href=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/life\/garage-and-alive-theatres-come-together-right-now-fundraiser-sunday-at-alex-s-bar-2\/#.Uxe0WUJdVsM\">decided to join forces in the summer of 2012 in an attempt to combine the efforts of the small companies<\/a>. Until 2011, Garage&#8217;s year-long seasons included six plays, including its annual holiday melodrama, however the departure of key players forced Garage to drop to five shows for its 2012 season.
