{"id":3523,"date":"2014-02-24T16:12:59","date_gmt":"2014-02-24T16:12:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lbpost.com\/articles\/life\/music\/csulb-faculty-member-craig-richey-records-film-score\/"},"modified":"2014-02-24T16:12:59","modified_gmt":"2014-02-24T16:12:59","slug":"csulb-faculty-member-craig-richey-records-film-score","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/esd\/hi-lo\/music\/csulb-faculty-member-craig-richey-records-film-score","title":{"rendered":"CSULB Faculty Member Craig Richey Records Film Score"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Cal State Long Beach (CSULB) professor and pianist Craig Richey had an interesting job to do while he was in Prague: record a movie score.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignleft size-full wp-image-27847\" style=\"float: left;\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/GirlOnBikeRecord.jpg\" alt=\"GirlOnBikeRecord\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" \/>\u201cI was thrilled when I was first approached to score this film,\u201d Richey said. \u201cThat the film is a romantic comedy set in Paris was another huge attraction for me in that it was clear early on that a Euro-classical style orchestral score would be what the film required.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The film, <em>Girl on a Bicycle<\/em>, is from writer\/director Jeremy Leven, known for writing <em>The Notebook<\/em> and <em>The Legend of Bagger Vance<\/em> scripts. The tale is one of a mishmash of multinational jokes and the somewhat eye-rolling clich\u00e9 that gorgeous, fiercely intelligent women somehow fall for mediocre, underachieving men. Though the film has received <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/m\/girl_on_a_bicycle_2013\/%20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">less-than-stellar reviews<\/a>,&nbsp;that doesn\u2019t detract from Richey\u2019s mix of guitars, musettes, cembalos, and other Euro-folk instruments in his score.<\/p>\n<p>After recording in Prague, he then mixed the staggering 87 minutes in Munich. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Bicycle-Original-Motion-Picture-Soundtrack\/dp\/B00IEAU5XA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The soundtrack is now available on Lakeshore Records<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Girl on a Bicycle<em> is now showing in limited engagements in theaters across the States.
