Pier 76 Fish Grill, the popular seafood eatery currently located at the Cooper Arms building, will be moving its operation to the heart of downtown Long Beach as it takes over the space formerly occupied by Trimana Grill.<\/p>\n
The new location at Pine and 1st, kitty-corner to The Federal Bar, will provide the fish house with double the space\u2014nearly 2,000 sq. ft.\u2014while providing patrons with parking nearby and the ability to walk around Pine. Their current location at Ocean and Linden, though successful, isn\u2019t the bustling intersection that is their upcoming home.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur current location has always been a test location,\u201d said Ben Herst, manager of Pier 76. \u201cDay after day we realized we needed a bigger spot\u2014the lunch rush alone has this place packed wall-to-wall so we\u2019re truly excited about the new space.\u201d<\/p>\n
They began their refurbishment of the new space today, demolishing the majority of the inside, including ripping down the ceiling to make the space feel less confined.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve basically gutted the whole thing,\u201d Herst said. \u201cBut we\u2019re keeping our operation and aesthetic the same: clean look, walk-up-and-order, fast, great food.\u201d<\/p>\n
Founded by Chef Chris Krajacic, the former head of Seal Beach’s Walt\u2019s Wharf, the new Pier 76 location is expected to open by mid-March.<\/p>\n
