Susan McGehee, a California native, has been a weaver of metal and wires since the late 80\u2019s. Using traditional weaving methods, she crafts wall-hanging pieces reaching 3 to 40 feet long that are produced on a computerized 16-harness dobby loom. Susan\u2019s \u201cMetallic Strands\u201d exhibit on display at WE Labs incorporates many different colors and patterns, as well as remnants of electronics. The pieces provide a soft and moving aesthetic, contrary to the nature of metal. Susan has won numerous awards and has been displayed in many galleries and exhibitions throughout the United States.<\/p>\n

Metallic Strands opening reception will be on November 9 from 7-10PM at the WE Labs West Wing Gallery in Downtown Long Beach, and will be on display until January 31, 2014. <\/em>WE Labs is located at 235 East Broadway, 8th Floor.<\/em><\/p>\n
