{"id":368,"date":"2018-11-24T12:00:02","date_gmt":"2018-11-24T20:00:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/?p=999927476"},"modified":"2018-11-24T12:00:02","modified_gmt":"2018-11-24T20:00:02","slug":"queen-mary-opts-for-on-board-christmas-event-over-chill-ice-adventure-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/esd\/hi-lo\/queen-mary-opts-for-on-board-christmas-event-over-chill-ice-adventure-park","title":{"rendered":"Queen Mary opts for on-board Christmas event over CHILL ice adventure park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The yearly winter wonderland known as CHILL has been iced this year in favor of a more low-key event: Queen Mary Christmas.<\/p>\n<p>Rather than taking over the parking lot outside the historic ship, the event will bring people on-board where they will explore a gingerbread village and stocking shop and see a 4-D showing of Polar Express.<\/p>\n<p>While the event won&#8217;t feature a <a href=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/life\/don-t-queen-mary-s-chill-during-the-holiday-downtime\/\">giant igloo<\/a> with two million pounds of ice, a two-story ice slide or ice bumper cars like in <a href=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/life\/queen-mary-s-all-new-chill-brings-regional-traditions-to-long-beach\/\">previous years<\/a> of CHILL, it will still have an ice skating rink on the sport deck of the ship.<\/p>\n<p>The CHILL event, which started in 2012, has always been an extravagant affair, with <a href=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/life\/queen-mary-s-all-new-chill-brings-regional-traditions-to-long-beach\/\">last year&#8217;s event<\/a> exploring the food and traditions of seven regions in the world.<\/p>\n<p>But this year will be much more intimate, featuring a meet and greet with Santa in his Captain&#8217;s Quarters and storytime with the Missus. Guests are promised to have entertainment while strolling down the tree-lined decks. They can also celebrate the season each day with a nightly tree-lighting ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.queenmary.com\/calendar-of-events\/qmchristmas\/home\/\">cost<\/a> is\u00a0$22 for adults and $16 for children ages 4-11.
