Beloved songwriter Richard M Sherman is appearing in Long Beach, at Fingerprints Music, this Sunday at 2PM. He’ll sing a few songs, and sign copies of his new instrumental album, Keys of Love<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

For many people, it is impossible to imagine a world without the Sherman Brothers. Their work has woven itself into the fabric of Western culture in a way that few other artists could hope to. Their memorable melodies, their infectious lyrics, and the humor and sweetness they so often evoke, have imprinted their songs onto generations of kids, and adults.<\/p>\n

Although they had hits before joining forces with Walt Disney–“You’re Sixteen,” for example was #8 on the charts in 1960, and #1 in ’74 when Ringo Starr released his version–it was their songs for animated classics like The Jungle Book<\/em> and Peter Pan<\/em>, and musicals such as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang<\/em> and Mary Poppins<\/em>, that elevated them to iconic status.<\/p>\n

In this interview, Richard speaks about his storied past, and the new album, but also about the many projects he’s developing. At 84, it seems he’s busier than ever.<\/p>\n
