Nick Waterhouse, the San Francisco-based musician and producer LA Weekly<\/em> deemed<\/a> \u201cthe young man who makes old R&B,\u201d will headline Summer and Music (S.A.M.)’s first Dancin\u2019 In the Streets on August 4.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re always looking for ways to improve and add new elements to S.A.M.,\u201d said S.A.M. founder and Fingerprints record shop owner Rand Foster. \u201cWhen last year\u2019s BuskerFest show ended with an impromptu dance party in the streets of Downtown, we all looked at each other and said, \u2018dance party!\u2019 There are few opportunities to dance outside in an urban setting and, judging by last year\u2019s \u2019Busker effect,\u2019 the interest extends far beyond us who plan and work on S.A.M.”<\/p>\n

According to Foster, Nick Waterhouse brings “soulful good vibes,” while fellow acts DJ Lithuanian Prince was the man responsible for the initial BuskerFest breakdown and DJ Dennis Owens supplies the sounds at Long Beach’s own funk club, The Good Foot. “We\u2019ve brought together dance party royalty for this event.\u201d <\/p>\n

Hailing from Huntington Beach, Waterhouse, 24, is a modern-day entrepreneur of 1960s sound, pomade, and horn-rimmed glasses\u2014about as far from surf-culture as one can get. Releasing his debut EP Is That Clear<\/em> in late 2011 and having just released his first full-length album, Time\u2019s All Gone<\/em>, Waterhouse\u2019s sonic signature\u2014a Victrola of vintage Soul, Pop 45s, and R&B\u2014will lead the charge for an electric night of shimmying and shaking.<\/p>\n

In addition to the good vibes, food trucks, including The Lime Truck, and the Congregation Ale House beer garden will have offerings to fuel and hydrate.<\/p>\n
