As anticipation builds for the release of The Dark Knight Rises<\/em>\u2014<\/span>the new Batman movie coming out this Friday\u2014<\/span>the Batman universe is getting attention in more than just movie theatres.<\/p>\n

Last weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con had a massive display of all the existing Batmobiles and Mattel is releasing a new line of licensed action figures. In Long Beach, Art du Vin Wine Bar presents “Caped Crusader,” an art exhibition inspired by “The World\u2019s Greatest Detective.\u2028”<\/p>\n

The display features work from predominantly Long Beach-based residents, including David Coyne’s “North American Batman,” a mixed media piece that shows an Adam West Batman akimbo with arms sprawled wide, Ryan Milner’s “Jokers Wild” complete with Heath Ledger Joker painted on a Bicycle playing card and a zany drawing of a Mexican Luchador, titled \u201cEl Batman\u201d by Kevin Bannister.<\/p>\n

Old an new, friends and foes, the exhibition opens this Wednesday, July 18th from 5-9pm, and will feature a variety of artists and two-dimensional media.<\/p>\n
