For the first time, the Aquarium of the Pacific and the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra (LBSO) are teaming up on an ocean-themed performance. Attendees can embark on a musical journey as they are surrounded by fish in the Aquarium\u2019s Great Hall during this evening event, which is free with advance reservation. This show provides an opportunity for music enthusiasts to discover the Aquarium.<\/p>\n
George Crumb\u2019s Voice of the Whale<\/em> for flute, cello, and piano was inspired by the songs of the humpback whale. The LBSO Chamber Players will take people on an oceanic voyage with a vivid collection of sounds: the screech of the seagull, the splash of primeval ocean waves, and the songlike whisper of the mighty whale itself. Also on the program is Camille Saint-Sa\u00ebns\u2019 beloved Carnival of the Animals<\/em> performed in the original chamber version for two pianos, string quintet, flute, clarinet, and percussion.
