One with a very eye-catching name: Me Soo Hungry. I am pleased to report that Me Soo Hungry adds a pleasant dining option to the rich offerings in the Shore. It is a small place (has less than 15 tables) and is full of modern and whimsical paintings in bright primary colors. The last time I was there, every table was full, and there was a short wait — a good sign for a place that has only been open a few months. Another good sign was that the owner, Christine Hsu, was finally granted a temporary beer and wine license, so I was able to purchase a large Chinese beer to enjoy with my meal. Me Soo Hungry ís menu consists of a good sampling of traditional Chinese dishes with some creative reinterpretations. The pan-fried dumplings were very traditional and were a standout dish for me. The outer wrapper of the dumpling was tender and delicious — except for the bottom, which was crunchy after being fried to perfection. The filling was a rich conglomeration of pork and vegetables. Dipped in a savory sauce, these were a perfect beginning to the meal. Their version of orange chicken is also rather traditional, with chunks of chicken twice fried and served in a rich, spicy and sweet orange glaze and a healthy dose of dried orange peel. The kung pao shrimp was different from any I had tried before. It included small mushrooms along with the traditional peanut accompaniments and rich spicy, sauce. Even though I missed some of the traditional ingredients, it was tasty. All dishes are served with rice, and brown rice can be had for a small fee. Many popular items are on the lunch menu and served with soup and an appetizer for a very reasonable price.
