3:45pm |<\/span><\/strong>Long Beach will host the AMP Organization\u2019s queer grassroots rock and arts festival known<\/span>
as Cut Paste Rock n\u2019 Roll No. 4 this Saturday, July 9.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span>

Billed as a night of celebrating the alternative LGBTQQIA arts, music and youth movement, CPRR brings together queercore bands, musicians, artists, and community organizations in the <\/span>Los Angeles area to help <\/span>foster creativity<\/span><\/span> and assemble queers and allies to celebrate an artistic spirit that is often absent from gay pride celebrations. <\/span>
<\/span>
Founded by Long Beach-based activist Annie Packhurst, CPRR is designed to give queers of all ages a place to go to mingle with one another and appreciate the talent that exists within their own community.<\/span> 
<\/span><\/span>“Long Beach and L.A. need to hear our local queer voices, and the queer people of SoCal need a<\/span>
place to call their own, something different than the mainstream gay events,\u201d Packhurst said.<\/span>

The all-ages event also features a social justice component while raising money for the Queer Youth Scholarship, which supports young LGBTQQIA students interested in the arts and the queer community. <\/span>

<\/span>\u201cAfter we threw the first CPRR, we ended up raising a bunch of money,\u201d Packhurst said, \u201cbut didn’t feel right about keeping it, so we started researching ways to funnel those queer dollars back into the community.\u201d<\/span>
<\/span>
CPRR also features onsite HIV testing in partnership with the AIDS Healthcare Foundation. Everyone who is tested will be entered into a raffle to win prizes in an effort to encourage all who attend to get tested so they can know their status. The event will also give away \u201cqueer survival kits\u201d filled with resources and stickers from groups such as Planned Parenthood and the Trevor Project, as well as coupons for local businesses and stickers and CDs from local bands.<\/span>

CPRR is open to all ages and will be held from 5 p.m. to 1a.m. at DiPiazza’s on Pacific Coast Highway. There<\/span>
is a $10 cover charge.<\/span>
