11:34am | <\/strong>As you may recall, it’s not (just) your grandfather’s Long Beach Playhouse anymore<\/a>. And
to further bring home that point, beginning this Thursday with Samuel Beckett’s “Waiting for Godot,” every Long Beach Playhouse show will open with a Thursday-night preview that is a pay-what-you-can night.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s our way to extend the theatre experience to every community member,” says Daisy Ramirez-Gutierrez, the playhouse’s marketing manager.<\/p>\n

While money is, of course, accepted for these shows, so is nonperishable food \u2014 even pet food.<\/p>\n

If you can’t make the Thursday show, Friday is a half-price preview \u2014 which in this case is $11. That’s a pretty good deal for catching one of those classic stage works that deserves every bit of its renown.<\/p>\n

“Waiting for Godot” opens in preview this Thursday, April 7, (opening night April 9) and runs at 8 p.m.
Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday through May 7.
