Microscopic samples of the paint will be taken to the Getty Conservation Institute in Los Angeles to analyze in preparation to conserve the mural next summer.<\/p>\n<p>The Long Beach Navy Memorial Heritage Association provided a grant to conserve &#8220;Sun Forces,&#8221; the university announced Friday.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"6XXvy51gi6\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/hi-lo\/art\/1965-mural-at-csulb-gets-new-life-thanks-to-university-art-museum-conservation-project\">1965 mural at CSULB gets new life thanks to University Art Museum conservation project<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; visibility: hidden;\" title=\"&#8220;1965 mural at CSULB gets new life thanks to University Art Museum conservation project&#8221; &#8212; the Hi-lo\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/hi-lo\/art\/1965-mural-at-csulb-gets-new-life-thanks-to-university-art-museum-conservation-project\/embed\/#?secret=g39I937hsk#?secret=6XXvy51gi6\" data-secret=\"6XXvy51gi6\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The University Art Museum, in partnership with\u00a0The Getty Conservation Institute and RLA Conservation of Art &amp; Architecture, will lead the project as the seventh artwork on campus to be restored through its conservation initiative started in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>This fall the museum will release a book titled &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/life\/arts-culture\/sculpture-symposium\/\">Far Sited: 1965 California International Sculpture Symposium<\/a>,&#8221; thanks to funding from Joan Glenn Casares, widow to Kenn Glenn, the sculpture professor who organized the symposium, according to a CSULB representative.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_999914285\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-999914285\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/0813-Mural-05.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-999914285 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/0813-Mural-05-970x668.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"413\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-999914285\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Christina Varvi, Conservator at RLA Conservation Associates, takes a close look at the 1965 mural by artist Rita Letendre at CSULB in Long Beach August 13, 2018.
