For three weeks in April, local artists invite the community inside their studios as part of the new Arts Council for Long Beach program titled Inside the Artist’s Studio. “The program is designed to bridge the gap between local artists and the community they serve,” states Kenton Haleem, Director of Arts Learning for the Arts Council. As a community outreach program it invites students from nearby schools to tour the studio during the day and the featured artists co-hosts adult tours with the Arts Council in the evening. The program provides the artist an opportunity to engage people on an up-close and personal level with his\/her body of work. <\/p>\n

Artist Jen Zen invites you to learn more about the symbiotic relationship with arts and technology. Jen Zen’s Cybertouch Series work focuses on computer-generated imagery created in three-dimensional, semi-immersive environments followed by a Q & A session.<\/p>\n

Artists Thea Robertshaw and Robin Bott; Robertshaw gives a talk on The Creative Process based on her work with dreams, mythologies and metaphors. There will be slides of her artwork, followed by a Q & A session. A second lecture will follow at 7:30 PM. Artist Robin Bott will engage conversation relating to the mosaic artwork created by the school children who visited the studio.<\/p>\n
