Guitar/drums duo I Heart Lung (which features Shlarb and drummer Tom Steck creating what they call “tribal drone, free jazz, whisper and rage, improvisation and predestination”) will contain the extremes of touring bands PWRFL POWER and Capillary Action will take the stage.

PWRFL POWER, aka Katsutaka Nomura, has been touring relentlessly through the US and Japan for the past year. His soft, simple, sweet sound–just guitar and voice–mirrors his simple, sweet lyrics that have been confounding reviewers used to lyrics that are clever for clever’s sake (including the Seattle Post Intelligencer). He is also recently animated in the Esurance style, as his music will be used in an upcoming national commercial.

Capillary Action is Jonathan Pfeffer on vocals and guitar, Sam Krulewitch on vocals and keyboards and Dan Sutherland on drums. They say their songs “never sit still … they bend, stretch, fall apart and come back together, only to fall apart again” and damn if that’s not exactly what they do. Sometimes they’re hard punk, sometimes a noise band.

{open} is located at 2226 East 4th Street, in the fashion forward Forth Street corridor that starts on Junipero with Portfolio and makes it’s way West toward Cherry.

[6
["post-6103","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-hi-lo","entry
["GET
