Last Thursday I was working on a project with my friend, local artist Betsy Lohrer Hall, when we happened upon Alex Lilly, an artist and activist who, visiting from Portland, OR, was busily working on a series of prints from a hand-made woodcut.  He took a break from his work to speak with us.  It was not an interview, but just an impromptu conversation between three people talking about print-making, art, politics, and society. <\/p>\n

Alex has worked in a variety of media, including painting, photography, and performance art.  His work is often confrontational, political, and physically large.  He also creates prints of small, intimate landscapes cut by hand into metal plates. <\/p>\n
