{"id":6133,"date":"2008-01-14T07:15:00","date_gmt":"2008-01-14T07:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lbpost.com\/articles\/life\/connected-corridor-possibilities-in-long-beach\/"},"modified":"2008-01-14T07:15:00","modified_gmt":"2008-01-14T07:15:00","slug":"connected-corridor-possibilities-in-long-beach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/esd\/hi-lo\/connected-corridor-possibilities-in-long-beach","title":{"rendered":"Connected Corridor: Possibilities in Long Beach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><div style='float:left;padding-right:10px;padding-bottom:5px;'><img src='images\/archive\/photo9904910.jpg' align='left' \/><\/div>\n<p>Community members and small business owners, particularly those who are stakeholders on the Atlantic Corridor, are invited to attend a free and engaging night of possibility thinking about the future of Long Beach and particularly the Atlantic Corridor.&nbsp; The event, which will feature break out discussion sessions that focus on the state of Media and Technology; Small Business Development; Work Force Development; Education Connection; and Art and Culture, will be held on Monday, January 14, 5:00-7:30 p.m. at Hamilton Middle School, 1060 E. 70th Street, Long Beach.<\/p>\n<p>With the assistance of Long Beach movers and shakers, Connected Corridor is hosting this free community event.&nbsp; Barbara Sullivan, a true advocate of small business and a champion community consensus builder, will serve as facilitator. Ms. Sullivan She is presently CEO of a Human Resources and Training consulting firm, Sullivan International Inc., and President of People OneSource a company that specializes in outsourced H.R. and staff development solutions for growing businesses.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Barbara Sullivan&rsquo;s commitment to the community is reflected in everything she does, and she will ensure that this is a dynamic, energized discussion,&rdquo; said Jerry Miller, Connections Project Advisor.<\/p>\n<p>These break out sessions (each participant can choose two) will include:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Media and Technology<\/span> facilitated by Mike Murray, Director, Government &amp; External Affairs for Long Beach and Southern California for Verizon<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Small Business Development<\/span>, facilitated by Harry Saltzgaver, Executive Editor of Gazette Newspapers<br \/><br style=\"font-weight: bold;\" \/><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Work Force Development<\/span>, facilitated by Darick J. Simpson, Executive Director of the Long Beach Community Action Partnership<br \/><br style=\"font-weight: bold;\" \/><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Education Connection<\/span>, facilitated by Judy Seal recent Executive Director of the Long Beach Education Foundation, the funds development arm of the Long Beach Unified School District<br \/><br style=\"font-weight: bold;\" \/><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Art and Culture<\/span>, facilitated by Antonio Pedro Ruiz, founder and Executive Producer of Really Big Boom Productions<\/p>\n<p>In addition, there will be a slide presentation by Rethinking Long Beach.<\/p>\n<p>All interested individuals must pre-register with Connected Corridor in advance.
