Malloy\u2019s<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/life\/food\/after-nearly-three-decades-of-operation-long-beach-staple-e-j-malloys-closes-flagship-location\/\">announced on Wednesday<\/a> that after 26 years serving the Belmont Heights community, the Irish sports pub will be closing its doors on Sunday, July 29. A sign taped to a wall invited community members to celebrate the closing on July 27, 28 and 29. It\u2019s sure to be a raucous farewell with a limited food menu available, but plenty of kegs to finish. The pub\u2019s Los Altos location and Bixby Knolls location on Atlantic Ave. will remain open, while <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/firkinpubandgrill\/\">The Firkin Pub &amp; Grill<\/a> <\/strong>is set to take over the Belmont Heights space, keeping E.J. Malloy\u2019s staff and cooks employed.<\/p>\n<p>Now open and serving aguas frescas made from scratch, tortas, plates and bowls, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/organicfork.com\/\">Organic Fork<\/a><\/strong> is a recent addition to Bixby Village Plaza, right across the street from Cal State Long Beach. With a focus on \u201cfast casual\u201d and \u201chealth-conscious eats,\u201d Organic Fork is the project of Ivan Flores, who founded The Buffalo Spot, now a 15-location chain in three states. The same growth is projected for this healthier concept.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/BlOdE1cFTIA\/<\/p>\n<p>Try out the bread of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/heybrotherbaker\/\"><strong>Hey Brother Baker<\/strong><\/a> during a pop-up at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/commoditycoffee\/\"><strong>Commodity Coffee<\/strong><\/a> this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. while checking out the coffee shop\u2019s new space (designed by local outfit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/amigomodern\/\">Amigo Modern<\/a>). Recent menus have included $5 sweet and savory toasts, made from generously thick slices of the cottage bakers\u2019 country white. Photo by Asia Morris.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The <strong>Little Brass Cafe Express<\/strong>, the latest iteration of the now-closed <a href=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/business\/small-business\/beloved-brass-lamp-book-bar-to-close-doors-after-almost-two-years-serving-downtown-community\/\">Brass Lamp Book Bar &amp; Lounge<\/a>\u00a0in dowtown, celebrated its grand opening earlier this month at the Long Beach Airport. The coffee shop is located right across from the Jetblue check-in counter and before security, so if you\u2019ve been hankering for a Brass Lamp Classic grilled cheese from the original location (smoked gouda, bacon and jalapenos on Texas Toast) you don\u2019t have to buy a domestic flight to eat one. The menu, a range of fusion food, includes Tiger corn Dogs, Chichareetos, Beef brisket, Lamb ribs and a Po-boy Sandwich, as well as wood-fired white pizzas.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/susiecakes.com\/\"><strong>Susie Cakes<\/strong><\/a> is the most recent confection-centric business planned for <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/business\/massive-retail-complex-long-beach-exchange-adds-lululemon-susiecakes-to-growing-tenant-roster\/\">Long Beach Exchange<\/a><\/strong>. Officials announced this week that the \u201call-American\u201d bakery\u2014which boasts 18 locations throughout the state\u2014is slated to open in November. The founder, Susan Sarich, stated the company is excited to \u201cbring something new and unique to the area.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-70438\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/farmlotroast-970x970.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, July 28, <strong>Farm Lot 59<\/strong> is hosting a <strong>Farm Roast<\/strong> with Phantom Carriage beers, ice cream from Long Beach Creamery and the main dish, barbecue by Chef Art Gonzalez of Roe Seafood and Panza Cocina. It\u2019s $20 a plate with the beer and ice cream available for purchase on site. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs to sit on.
