{"id":7597,"date":"2019-08-07T11:46:53","date_gmt":"2019-08-07T18:46:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/hi-lo\/?p=30000001327"},"modified":"2019-08-07T11:46:53","modified_gmt":"2019-08-07T18:46:53","slug":"addison-taste-of-japan-pike-outlets-dtlb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/esd\/hi-lo\/food\/addison-taste-of-japan-pike-outlets-dtlb","title":{"rendered":"Taste of Japan food festival coming to Long Beach\u2014all-you-can-drink sake included"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following in the footsteps of Anaheim&#8217;s Japan Fair, the inaugural Taste of Japan food festival will invade the Pike Outlets in Downtown Long Beach, Saturday, Sep. 14.<\/p>\n<p>While non-drinking general admission tickets are extremely affordable\u2014$5 for pre-sale, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/taste-of-japan-long-beach-tickets-66003114091?aff=ebdssbdestsearch&amp;utm-medium=discovery&amp;utm-campaign=social&amp;utm-content=attendeeshare&amp;utm-source=cp&amp;utm-term=destsearch\">available here<\/a>, and $7 at the door\u2014for those looking to drink endless gulps of sake and beer, tickets will be $60 for pre-sale and $80 at the door (and will include a goodie bag as well as two free food tickets).<\/p>\n<p>The Beer and Sake Garden will feature Sapporo, Orion and Suntory beers while also hosting Hiro sake along with a small selection of others.<\/p>\n<p>Food vendors include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Okayama Kobo:\u00a0<\/strong>Known for their panko-crusted steamed curry buns and coppe, Japanese-style hot dog bun sandwiches, this bakery has quickly built up a name for itself since opening last year in Anaheim.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gindaco:\u00a0<\/strong>Japan&#8217;s largest <em>takoyaki\u00a0<\/em>chain opened up its first North American shop in Gardena last year and has since been gaining crowds eager for their version of the popular octopus ball dish.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tenkatori:\u00a0<\/strong>Japanese fried chicken. &#8216;Nuff said.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sushi Boy:\u00a0<\/strong>With three shops across the L.A. region, Sushi Boy is approachable sushi, from rolls to sashimi.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tamaen:\u00a0<\/strong>Focusing on the quality of Japan&#8217;s famed Wagyu beef, this barbecue-on-your-own joint has become a staple in Gardena.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tsurumaru Udon:\u00a0<\/strong>Udon, the thick, handmade Japanese noodle, is a staple in the island&#8217;s cuisine\u2014and Tsurumaru creates every version imaginable for you.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Otafuku:\u00a0<\/strong>Though offering a variety of Japanese dishes, from <em>takoyaki\u00a0<\/em>to\u00a0<em>hayashi<\/em>, Otafuku&#8217;s most known for its take\u2014and free recipes handed out to customers\u2014on\u00a0<em>yakisoba<\/em>, a fried noodle dish.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Uncle Tetsu:\u00a0<\/strong>This place specializes in Japanese cheesecake: airy, not-too-sweet, and wonderful.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shinkai Ramen:\u00a0<\/strong>Ramen. Ramen. More ramen.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Temmus Goen:\u00a0<\/strong>&#8220;Temmus&#8221; is basically any form of rice wrapped in sushi, depending on who you ask and what region you&#8217;re in.<\/li>\n<li><strong>SVR BBQ:\u00a0<\/strong>Grab some meat, grab a skewer and grill away.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Orange Cultural Salon:\u00a0<\/strong>Despite its name, don&#8217;t expect a barber or hairstylist to be on-call at the festival. Orange Cultural Salon specializes in a variety of noodles.<\/li>\n<li><strong>TKY:\u00a0<\/strong><em>Kakig\u014dri<\/em> is Japan&#8217;s version of shaved ice\u2014and TKY is one of SoCal&#8217;s go-to options for the dessert.<\/li>\n<li><strong>AJAJ Cafe:\u00a0<\/strong>Think of this cafe as a one-stop-shop of Japanese food, from meat skewers and milk teas to desserts and boba.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Katsu Brothers:\u00a0<\/strong>A katsu sandwich is basically a cutlet sandwich, where a piece of protein\u2014typically panko-breaded chicken or pork\u2014is fried and stuffed between two slices of white bread.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Tickets can be purchased <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/2855687707837702\/\">here<\/a>. Taste of Japan will take place on Saturday, Sep. 14, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Pike Outlets, located at 95 S.
