{"id":76716,"date":"2023-08-23T12:30:20","date_gmt":"2023-08-23T19:30:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/hi-lo\/?p=76716"},"modified":"2023-08-23T12:30:20","modified_gmt":"2023-08-23T19:30:20","slug":"maye-center-to-host-a-farm-to-table-dinner-with-chef-t-and-chef-chad-on-saturday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/esd\/hi-lo\/maye-center-to-host-a-farm-to-table-dinner-with-chef-t-and-chef-chad-on-saturday","title":{"rendered":"Maye Center to host a farm-to-table dinner with Chef T and Chef Chad on Saturday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Maye Center will host a &#8220;Mindful &amp; Belly Full&#8221; farm-to-table dinner with menu curation by <a href=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/hi-lo\/food\/chef-t-gangster-cookbook-cambodian-long-beach\/\">Chef T<\/a> (Visoth Tarak Ouk) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/battambongbob\/?hl=en\">Chef Chad Phuong<\/a>, owner of Battambong BBQ, on Saturday, Aug. 26.<\/p>\n<p>The dinner will take place at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themayecenter.org\/thegrowingexperience\">The Growing Experience Urban Farm<\/a>, an 8-acre property, which has over 300 fruit trees. The dinner will include produce from the property and other local farms across the region.<\/p>\n<p>Chefs Ouk and Phuong have risen to local culinary prominence in recent years\u2014Phuong for his Cambodian-style barbecue and Ouk for his Cambodian soul food. The pair have collaborated in the past. Last year, they joined forces for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=P8ZXg3pEbjU\">a BBQ pop-up in North Long Beach<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets to the event can be purchased by donation. The suggested donation per ticket is $200, and space for the dinner is limited. All proceeds from the evening will go toward training and hiring young farm activists for the Maye Center, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/news\/immigrant-success-laura-som-is-working-to-save-lives-and-memories-in-cambodia-town\/\">Maye Som<\/a>, director of the center.<\/p>\n<p>The center offers programing such as meditation, agriculture, yoga and education to promote self-healing and to empower the Cambodian community.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday&#8217;s dinner is not just about the food, but an &#8220;homage to our community&#8217;s collective spirit, dedication, and shared ethos,&#8221; Som said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p><em>Tickets and event information can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/mindful-belly-full-farm-to-table-dinner-tickets-651296173387\">here<\/a>. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 26 at 750 E.
