{"id":7918,"date":"2019-08-26T16:29:52","date_gmt":"2019-08-26T23:29:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/hi-lo\/?p=30000001706"},"modified":"2021-03-08T08:06:33","modified_gmt":"2021-03-08T16:06:33","slug":"a-hot-time-in-zaferia-for-happy-sundays","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/esd\/hi-lo\/music\/a-hot-time-in-zaferia-for-happy-sundays","title":{"rendered":"A hot time in Zaferia for Happy Sundays"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over 40 bands from all over Los Angeles and Long Beach took over nine venues along Anaheim Street in the Zaferia District, Sunday, as part of the fourth annual free, one-day music festival, Happy Sundays, organized by Long Beach husband-wife duo Julia Kugel Montoya and Scott Montoya.<\/p>\n<p>The couple could be seen throughout the venues catching as many performances as possible as well as playing their own sets. Together they are White Woods. Their set at the Red Leprechaun reached overcapacity to the point where, for a moment, Scott Montoya\u2019s own father couldn\u2019t enter to watch his son play. Separately, Julia Kugel Montoya played later that night as singer\/guitarist of the Coathangers at Alex\u2019s Bar.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10000003656\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10000003656\" style=\"width: 1007px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-10000003656 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/hi-lo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/0825Happy-1007x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1007\" height=\"1024\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-10000003656\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Julia Kugel Montoya, co-founder of Happy Sundays performing in front of a capacity crowd at the Red Leprechaun. Photo by Sarahi Apaez.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Each venue offered a range of genres giving Long Beach residents a chance to leave having learned about a new artist based on their genre of choice.
