January is almost over. Perhaps that’s great news for those doing Dry January, but maybe bad news for those feeling like they’re being swept away by the currents of time. Fret not though, for the latter can be remedied by\u00a0trying new things<\/a>. No, really.<\/p>\n

For those looking to do just that, we’ve got a lengthy lineup for you this week.<\/p>\n

If you’d like to connect more with their community, there\u2019s a food fair with local chefs and farmers\u00a0and Fourth Street’s Fourth Friday (say that five times fast). For the music lovers, we\u2019ve got a Bob Marley celebration and a Mozart classical concert.<\/p>\n

And for those who want a bit more of the supernatural in their lives, the Queen Mary is now holding s\u00e9ances every weekend.<\/p>\n

Fourth Street Fourth Fridays (Friday)<\/b><\/h3>\n

This monthly event is back this Friday, Jan. 24 from 6 to 9 p.m., Lunar New Year style.<\/p>\n

Along Fourth Street, there will be artists, vendors, performances and more, as well as opportunities to shop at the many local businesses the area has to offer.<\/p>\n

57 Ghosts at the Queen Mary (Friday – Sunday)<\/b><\/h3>\n

Have you ever spoken to a spirit? The Queen Mary has a new attraction \u2013 a supernatural s\u00e9ance.<\/p>\n

Guests can join apparitionist Michael Rangel for an immersive experience as he guides attendees through communicating with some of the 57 paranormal pals that call the historic (and apparently haunted<\/a>) ship home.<\/p>\n

Tours run Fridays through Sundays starting at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $100 for admission and can be bought here<\/a>. For more information, click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Long Beach Food Fair (Saturday)<\/b><\/h3>\n

For those looking to connect with their community and expand their culinary knowledge, some of Long Beach\u2019s local chefs and farmers are partnering up to hold a free food fair this Saturday, Jan. 27 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Admiral Kidd Park.<\/p>\n

At these food fairs, attendees can enjoy cooking demos, exchange recipes and even take home a free, healthy and tasty meal.<\/p>\n

The food fairs will rotate locations and run every week throughout the year. They began just this month as a collaboration between Grow2Zero Farms, Sowing Seeds of Change and Feel Good Salsa Kitchen.<\/p>\n

Nature Weaving (Saturday)<\/b><\/h3>\n

The Office of Climate Action & Sustainability will hold a free \u201cnature weaving\u201d program at the Alamitos Library upstairs on Saturday, Jan. 27 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

At this class, guests can learn how to loom and weave using plants and other materials found in nature.<\/p>\n

Bob Marley Festival (Saturday)<\/b><\/h3>\n

The seventh annual Bob Marley festival is back at Gaslamp Long Beach this Saturday, Jan. 27 from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.<\/p>\n

As they celebrate the reggae legend\u2019s birthday (which is actually on Feb. 6), attendees can enjoy food, drinks and live performances from King Yellowman, Big Youth, Ms. B Royal with Dread Kennedy and more.<\/p>\n

The Fully Fulwood Band, whose set starts at around 9:35 p.m., will be playing some of Marley\u2019s greatest hits.<\/p>\n

General admission is $40, and discount parking can be bought on Eventbrite for $13. Parking is free before 6 p.m.<\/p>\n

Musica Angelica: Happy Birthday, Mozart! (Saturday)<\/b><\/h3>\n

Speaking of birthdays, Musica Angelica, a\u00a0Baroque orchestra, will pay tribute to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart at the Beverly O\u2019Neill Theater this Saturday, Jan. 27 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

The performance will feature virtuosos like flutist Stephen Schultz and violinist Ilia Korol as they celebrate one of the greatest classical composers of all time.<\/p>\n

Tickets go from $40 to $80 depending on seating and can be purchased here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

February 2024 Long Beach Expo Collectibles Show Celebrates 60th Anniversary (February 1 to 3)<\/h3>\n

The Long Beach Expo, the longstanding collectibles show in Southern California, will be held February 1-3, at the Long Beach Convention Center. First held in 1964, the Long Beach Expo is where thousands buy and sell coins, sports cards and memorabilia, trading cards, banknotes, and many other collectibles.<\/p>\n

Among the highlights at the February 2024 Long Beach Expo is an appearance by Sean Rich of television\u2019s Pawn Stars and Lords of War. Rich will be at the convention all three days showing off his incredible collection of treasures and historic relics, many of which have appeared in major motion pictures and popular television shows.<\/p>\n

Attendees can check out some of the coins and collectibles that will be offered in a multimillion-dollar Heritage Auctions sale. Collectors of coins, banknotes, sports cards, and more can also get their items authenticated by Professional Coin Grading Service and Professional Sports Authenticator, both of which will be grading submissions at the show.<\/p>\n

Collectors of coins, banknotes, and sports memorabilia can get their questions answered in Meet the Expert sessions hosting coin authority Steve Feltner, banknote specialist Philip Thomas, and Memory Lane sports maestro Dan Wulkan.<\/p>\n

The Kids\u2019 Treasure Hunt brings together families with fun trivia and exciting prizes, while giveaways of coins, banknotes, and sports memorabilia will occur daily at 2 p.m. with those present upon drawing qualified to win.<\/p>\n
