The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) at Cal State Long Beach will host the 25th Long Beach Step Show at the Walter Pyramid on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Long Beach Step Show is one of the largest student-produced step shows in the western United States, bringing together fraternity and sorority members from states such as California, Nevada, Arizona, Washington and New York to raise scholarship funds for historically underrepresented students.<\/p>\n

The NPHC, also known as the \u201cDivine Nine\u201d, is an organization of nine historically African-American and multicultural Greek-lettered fraternities and sororities. Proceeds will go toward scholarships for incoming freshmen, leadership development programs for NPHC and community service projects.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are hoping to demonstrate the talents of our students and bring together the community in celebration and partnership,\u201d said spokesperson James Ahumada. \u201cMore importantly, these step teams will be modeling for our local community and high school students the importance of a college education.\u201d<\/p>\n

Long Beach Step Show will be co-hosted by Montell Jordan, a powerhouse performer first made famous with his music \u201cThis Is How We Do It.\u201d The event will include performances from eight step teams, music and food.<\/p>\n

The first-place teams in the sorority and fraternity categories will be awarded a trophy and $1,500. An additional $500 will be donated to the organization\u2019s national philanthropy project, stated the release.<\/p>\n

The Step Show beings at 2:00PM and doors will be open an hour earlier. Tickets cost $25, which can be purchased online here<\/a>, from an NPHC member or with a student\/staff discount at the USU Info and Ticket Center.<\/p>\n
