{"id":8362,"date":"2019-09-13T11:54:22","date_gmt":"2019-09-13T18:54:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/hi-lo\/?p=30000002217"},"modified":"2019-09-15T16:37:32","modified_gmt":"2019-09-15T23:37:32","slug":"addison-papaluccis-belmont-shore-closure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/esd\/hi-lo\/addison-papaluccis-belmont-shore-closure","title":{"rendered":"Papalucci&#8217;s in Belmont Shore to close after nearly three decades of serving Italian food"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Papalucci&#8217;s, the Italian-American restaurant on the westernmost edge of Belmont Shore&#8217;s stretch of shopping and food along Second Street, will be serving its final plates of garlic knots and Henry\u2019s special shrimp come Sept. 30.<\/p>\n<p>Owner Dan Tarrantine made the announcement via Facebook:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FPapaluccis%2Fposts%2F2921905881170039&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"553\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Papalucci&#8217;s\u2014much like Francelli&#8217;s on Fourth Street\u2014is the type of space that marked the presence of Italian-American families in local food: red-and-white checkered table cloths, an open kitchen and fare that fused Italian cuisine with American sensibilities that was imported largely from the East Coast.<\/p>\n<p>Tarrantine first opened the doors in March of 1990, following the success of his pizzeria, Tarantino\u2019s in Pasadena.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1rem; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: transparent; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;\">Upon opening, Tarrantine described Papalucci\u2019s thusly: \u201cBecause food\u2014simply prepared and shared with family and friends\u2014is one of the most basic and satisfying pleasures in life. All that&#8217;s needed is a warm heart, a keen eye for the best ingredients and a sense of adventure to lead you to a place at our table.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>According to Dede Rossi of the Belmont Shore Business Association, Tarrantine is retiring while focusing on his health.<\/p>\n<p><em>Papalucci\u2019s is at 4611 E.
