Anime Los Angeles 20 (Thursday, Jan. 9 – Sunday, Jan. 12)<\/b><\/p>\n

Experience Anime Los Angeles 20 at the Long Beach Convention Center, Thursday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll see a lot of cosplayers in Downtown Long Beach this weekend for this popular event. It will also feature live entertainment, concerts, industry panels, a fashion show, an exhibit hall and more.<\/p>\n

Agatha Christie\u2019s The Murder of Roger Ackroyd (Saturday, Jan. 11)<\/b><\/p>\n

Long Beach Playhouse Theatres presents Agatha Christie\u2019s \u201cThe Murder of Roger Ackroyd\u201d in the Mainstage Theater at 8 p.m.<\/p>\n

This classic Agatha Christie story features Hercule Poirot investigating the murder of his friend Roger Ackroyd in his country manor. It is adapted by Philip Grecian and directed by Mitchell Nunn.<\/p>\n

Ocean Investigators (Saturday, Jan. 11)<\/b><\/p>\n

The Aquarium of the Pacific hosts Ocean Investigators with an emphasis on invertebrates from 9 to 11 a.m.<\/p>\n

This hands-on science program for 7- to 12-year-olds gives kids a close-up look at different parts of the animal kingdom. This week, it\u2019s invertebrates. As the Aquarium puts it, \u201cThey may be spineless, but they sure are mighty.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the program, kids will get to touch tide pool animals in the Aquarium\u2019s private classroom touch pool, take a guided tour of the Northern Pacific and Tropical Galleries to see invertebrates, learn all about several different groups of invertebrates, touch animal biofacts relating to invertebrates and record their observations.<\/p>\n

State of the City (Tuesday, Jan. 14)<\/b><\/p>\n

Mayor Rex Richardson hosts the State of the City at the Terrace Theater, beginning at 4:30 p.m. with a reception followed by the program at 5:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s theme is \u201cCelebrating the Roots, Rhythm, and Community of Long Beach.\u201d Organizers promise it will honor the city\u2019s history of arts and culture. As with previous State of the City speeches, the mayor is also expected to give updates on major topics affecting residents. They\u2019ll include preparations for the Olympics and large infrastructure projects.<\/p>\n

They’re also promising an exclusive preview of the highly anticipated 2025 Vans Warped Tour, which is coming to Long Beach.<\/p>\n

The Terrace Theater is at 300 E. Ocean Blvd. The event is free, but RSVPs are requested here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Feelin\u2019 Good (Wednesday, Jan. 15)<\/b><\/p>\n

The Carpenter Performing Arts Center presents \u201cFeelin\u2019 Good,\u201d Burnham Sings Buble at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n

Broadway star David Burnham returns to celebrate the songbook of five-time Grammy Award-winner Michael Bubl\u00e9. Organizers promise Burnham will capture Bubl\u00e9\u2019s wit and charm, in songs like \u201cCry Me A River,\u201d \u201cI Haven\u2019t Met You Yet,\u201d \u201cSave The Last Dance For Me,\u201d \u201cHome,\u201d and \u201cSway.\u201d<\/p>\n
