Cordova.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>They specialize in baking with wild fermented sourdough culture and fresh corn masa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last year, the <a href=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/hi-lo\/food\/gusto-bread-best-bakeries-new-york-times\/\">New York Times<\/a> called Gusto Bread one of the best bakeries in the U.S., in part because of the Nixtamal Queen \u2014 which combines a kouign-amann pastry with sourdough and nixtamalized corn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n    <a href=\"#XHECJQES\">Link<\/a>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Last year, local favorites Ammatoli and La Parolaccia Osteria <a href=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/hi-lo\/food\/3-long-beach-eateries-named-as-semifinalists-to-win-james-beard-foundation-awards\/\">made the list<\/a> of James Beard semifinalists for the 2024 awards. Gusto was the only Long Beach eatery to make it this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this year\u2019s outstanding bakery category, Gusto is up against: Atelier Ortega in Jackson Hole, Wyoming; JinJu Patisserie in Portland, Oregon; Starship Bagel in Dallas and Lewisville, Texas; and Super Secret Ice Cream in Bethlehem, New Hampshire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ZU Bakery in Portland beat out Gusto to win the award in 2024. This year&#8217;s winners are scheduled to be announced June 16 at a ceremony in Chicago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i>Gusto Bread, 2710 E.
