A magical fundraiser (Thursday, Sept. 18)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This week is Long Beach Gives, the city’s biggest annual fundraiser (support us here<\/a>, please!), and nonprofits have all kinds of creative events happening to raise money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bixby Knolls Community Foundation is hosting a magic mixer \u2014 complete with magicians, music by DJ Dennis Owens and cocktails by Beachwood Brewing & Distilling at the restaurant group’s Bixby Knolls taproom (3630 Atlantic Ave.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organizers say this is a “donation-based event, and everyone\u2019s welcome \u2014 whether you make it a date night, girls\u2019 night out, or just a reason to unwind.” Just 21+ please.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dark Harbor opening night (Friday, Sept. 19)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It’s not even October yet, but spooky season has arrived. Dark Harbor, the beloved Halloween spectacular at the Queen Mary, opens Friday and runs every weekend (and many weekdays) until the beginning of November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are six mazes \u2014 including Feast, about the ship’s cannibalistic head chef \u2014 and plenty of attractions<\/a> like axe throwing and hidden speakeasies. Tickets start at about $45. Get them here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
