{"id":87029,"date":"2025-09-19T08:33:19","date_gmt":"2025-09-19T15:33:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/hi-lo\/?p=87029"},"modified":"2025-09-19T08:36:09","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T15:36:09","slug":"the-hare-bar-long-beach-broadway-breakfast-bar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/esd\/hi-lo\/food\/the-hare-bar-long-beach-broadway-breakfast-bar","title":{"rendered":"The Hare, a new bar on Broadway, is the latest creation from the couple behind The Breakfast Bar"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Long Beach\u2019s newest neighborhood bar, The Hare, just opened on Broadway with a mission to bring people together for drinks and a good time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When BLACK, the last bar that occupied the space, closed in April, Joshua Beadel \u2014 who owns The Breakfast Bar with his wife Pamela \u2014 jumped at the chance to start something new.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI&#8217;ve always looked for different opportunities [in the bar industry], because there&#8217;s good money in alcohol, and being a businessman, I wanted to open a bar that was kind of more fun with music and a different energy than a sit-down restaurant like we have currently,\u201d Beadel said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n    <a href=\"#XHECJQES\">Link<\/a>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>With their experience, the couple was able to move quickly, soft-opening The Hare in May just before Pride, and \u2014 on Sept. 5 \u2014 hosting a grand opening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beadel recruited Melissa Almeraz, whom he knew from his bartending days at Hamburger Mary\u2019s, to be the general manager and head bartender at The Hare. Photo courtesy of Bakers Man.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>They offer a variety of pizzas at $25 for a 12-inch or $30 for an 18-inch, salads ranging from $10 to $15, and appetizers such as chicken wings or fried brussels sprouts for $13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Hare also prides itself on being a welcoming space for everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe&#8217;re a representation of the neighborhood,\u201d Beadel said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Long before The Hare opened, its building on the corner of Broadway and Hermosa Avenue had been the gay bar Paradise Bar &amp; Grill. When Paradise closed in 2018, people <a href=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/news\/commentary\/fellow-gays-paradise-in-long-beach-closed-because-we-didnt-patronize-it-so-stop-hating-on-a-skate-bar-that-is-keeping-the-space-alive\/\">felt<\/a> they had lost a critical space in the LGBTQ+ community where they really felt at home.
