Willow St.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The movie, which the Festival selected for exemplifying \u201cuniversal Jewish values\u201d according to sponsor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jewishlongbeach.org\/lbjff\">Jewish Long Beach<\/a>, starts at 5:30 p.m., but families of all kinds can arrive at 4 p.m. to enjoy the center\u2019s playground, crafts and pizza-for-purchase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Official film-selection screenings then begin Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 6 p.m. with a red-carpet premiere \u2014 featuring gourmet popcorn, live music, drinks and dessert \u2014 before two film showings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first is \u201cMatchmaking 2,\u201d a comedy in Hebrew with English subtitles about a matchmaker\u2019s assistant pursuing her own marriage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"614\" height=\"908\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/hi-lo\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/11\/matchmaking-2-159101-hgrcppgz-634396-IWDGvCiE.png\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAfter breaking box-office records with their first film, the characters from \u2018Matchmaking\u2019 return with this endearing romantic comedy set against Ashkenazi and Sephardic cultural tensions,\u201d the Festival says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A screening of dramatic comedy \u201cThe Ring\u201d follows at 7 p.m., also in Hebrew with English subtitles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cArnon Noble is a religious man with a strong bond to his mother, a Holocaust survivor,\u201d the Festival describes. \u201cWhen the mother\u2019s health deteriorates, he travels to her old hometown, Budapest, to search for the mythical ring that saved her life in the past.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The festival continues the following weekend with a cocktail reception on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 6 p.m., followed by a screening of \u201cThe Stronghold\u201d at 7 p.m., a film set during the 1973 Yom Kippur War as Israeli soldiers trapped in the Sinai face annihilation while a lieutenant and doctor weigh a risky gambit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two movies then round out the festival on Sunday, Nov. 16, beginning with \u201cYaniv\u201d at 1 p.m., a dramatic comedy (in English) about a teacher trying to raise funds for the school\u2019s drama department by cheating at an underground card game run by the Hasidic community called <i>yaniv<\/i> \u2014 \u201cthe blackjack of the Jewish people,\u201d according to the Festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A reception afterward at 3 p.m. with cocktails and light refreshments will be followed by the festival\u2019s final movie, \u201cHome,\u201d at 4 p.m. \u2014 a crime drama based on a true story (in Hebrew with English subtitles) of a modern electronics shop challenged by a committee enforcing the neighborhood\u2019s religious character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sponsor Jewish
