Jen must complete the mission before the planet Thra\u2019s three suns align or else the malevolent Skeksis will rule forever. What may sound like gibberish is the plot of what was then a milestone in fantasy filmmaking.<\/p>\n<p>Co-directed by The Muppets creator Jim Henson and Frank Oz (<em>Little Shop of Horrors, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels<\/em>) and produced by Gary Kurtz (<em>Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back<\/em>), it\u2019s been 35 years since The Dark Crystal became the year\u2019s 16th highest-grossing film in North America, competing at the time with &#8220;E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial&#8221;, according to Forbes.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Dark Crystal - &quot;Aughra&#039;s Observatory&quot; Clip\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/yRb63jt4uzw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Put on by Fathom Events, The Jim Henson Company and Universal Pictures, The Dark Crystal will play on nearly 700 screens nationwide, including Cinemark 14 Long Beach and Edwards Long Beach Stadium.
