Compton Vegan offers jackfruit vegan rib and and wing plates, tacos and more.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/thepiebar\/\">The Pie Bar<\/a> <\/strong>officially opens its second location in Glendale today at 109 East Broadway in the city\u2019s downtown area. It\u2019s been great to see the growth of Laurie Gray\u2019s Long Beach-based business, who left the banking world three years ago to realize her dream of opening \u201ca pie shop on the beach.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-62381\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/mothers.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Rendering from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/MothersMarkets\/\">Mother\u2019s Market &amp; Kitchen<\/a>.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Although technically in Signal Hill, Long Beach fans of <strong>Mother\u2019s Market &amp; Kitchen<\/strong> will be happy to hear the Orange County-based business is expanding into the area. Now located where Fresh &amp; Easy once had a store, Mother\u2019s offers a wide selection for those with specialized diets, local and organic produce and a large selection of supplements. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/198739680861362\/\">grand opening celebration<\/a> takes place this Saturday at 10:00AM, although the market officially opens at 7:00AM with the first 100 customers to receive a $50 gift card and a recyclable grocery bag.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-62382\" src=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/rideandine-970x970.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Flyer courtesy of Sydney Richardson.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Bicycle Stand and local cyclist Sydney Richardson are partnering to bring foodies a new way to experience Long Beach restaurants. The inaugural <strong>Ride and Dine<\/strong> kicks off Tuesday at 7:00PM from the bike shop and rides to SteelCraft in Bixby Knolls. For those familiar with established group rides in the area, the pace will be slower than a Hump Day Special, but faster than a Moonlight Mash. See the flyer above for more details.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, February 24, all are invited to a free <strong>Chef\u2019s Cooking + Tasting Kick-Off<\/strong> at Friedman\u2019s Home Experience to celebrate the start of <strong>Dine Out Long Beach Restaurant Week 2.0<\/strong>. The grand opening will take place from 2:00PM to 6:00PM with the market to occur weekly on Mondays. The shipping container concept will house Dark Horse Coffee Roasters, Renegade Taco, and Cauldron Ice Cream among others, and bring with it a taste of Long Beach with <strong>Beachwood Brewing Co.<\/strong> expected to open alongside nine others. The groundbreaking will take place on March 5.<\/p>\n<p>We sent our intern to the inaugural LBC Food Truck Crawl in Victory Park, who <a href=\"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/life\/food\/first-lbc-food-truck-crawl-didnt-go-as-planned-but-the-food-was-still-good\/\">reported back<\/a> that the Sunday soiree of mobile fare turned out be less entertaining than promised, but the food was still drool-worthy. Long Beach ranks second on the company\u2019s list of <strong>20 Most Affordable Cities for Foodies<\/strong>. Their report seems to be aimed at those intent on joining the \u201cfoodie revolution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Social List<\/strong> and 4th Street\u2019s Retro Row area are about to receive some welcomed improvements, thanks to the restaurant\u2019s owners and the City of Long Beach. More patio seating, added greenery and safety for pedestrians are just a couple of the benefits of the new bulb-out and crosswalk expected to be completed around the end of this month.<\/p>\n<p>http:\/\/lbpost.com\/place\/design\/4th-street-corridor-alterations-on-the-way-to-improve-pedestrian-safety-beautify-the-area\/<\/p>\n<p>Another coffee shop is on its way to joining the downtown business of caffeination, a la <strong>Confidential Coffee &amp; Tea<\/strong>, LONGBEACHIZE <a href=\"http:\/\/www.longbeachize.com\/long-beach-foodie-update-confidential-coffee-tea-open-dtlb-cementing-dtlb-citys-caffeinated-epicenter\">posted<\/a>\u00a0this week. Confidential\u2019s owners said they plan on carrying local roasters Black Ring Coffee (to bring this post full circle) as well as other regional and national brands.
