As Metro Los Angeles begins the formal transition of the soon-to-not-exist Blue Line into the soon-to-exist A Line<\/a>, that means changing the hundreds of signs\u2014over 300 to be more precise\u2014which direct transiters to the nation’s most ridden light rail.<\/p>\n

So they’re having an auction.<\/p>\n

Come Thursday, Oct. 24, Union Station’s historic ticketing hall will become home to the Metro Blue Line Celebration and Vintage Sign Auction event, from 5 to 7 p.m. as well as live online<\/a> for those unable to attend the actual auction.<\/p>\n

“Participants will be able to preview the signs online at the link above or in person at Union Station from 3 to 5 p.m. on the day of the event,” said Steve Hymon of Metro. “The event at Union Station will include a musical performance by Maria de la Vega & the Wayward Five,<\/b><\/a> themed refreshments and information tables from a variety of Metro departments including Metro Arts and Design and Metro Sustainability, along with information about Metro\u2019s line renaming project and upcoming A Line reopening events.”<\/p>\n

Winning bidders are responsible for picking up their signs from the Ticketing Hall by 10 a.m. on Friday, October 25th or arranging and paying for shipping.<\/em><\/p>\n
