All restaurants will serve lunch and dinner, and breakfast, so you may even be able to order some great Danish pastries. Most restaurants don’t serve actual doggie dinners, but you can bring your own doggie bag so that Bella, Cooper or Fuzzface can dine al fresco alongside you.

“Long Beach is a very dog-friendly destination,” stated Elizabeth Borsting, founder of Dine Out Long Beach, Restaurant Week 2.0. “Our local dog beach is always voted one of the best in the country; and Restaurant Week is a great time to visit Long Beach with your pup, take advantage of the value-oriented menus from nearly 50 restaurants citywide, and make some time to play fetch in the sand after a great meal.”

Which is a good idea, because both you and Rover will need to run off dinner.

Some of the restaurants that welcome dogs are The Crooked Duck, Ocean Market Grill, Steamed Cuisine, Michael’s downtown location. You can go for an ale and a rolling good time at the Red Leprechaun, take in some arts ’n’ arf at Claire’s at the Museum, or have coffee and cuisine at Berlin while your companion gets his or her sound hound on at Fingerprints next door.

If you have two dogs, they can reenact the classic spaghetti kiss from Lady and the Tramp at Russo’s. You can even take out a Duffy boat for a Dine & Duffy with Your Dog from London Boat Rentals (LBR). You can bring your own lunches or order from LBR; either way, you don’t have to be Portuguese or Spanish to be a water dog.

If your four- (or three-) legged friend is sitting there drooling along with you, get ready to get some air, Dale, and chow down. If there are any leftovers, you can tell the server to boxer up.

For our staff’s recommendations, read this recent Post article.

This author is partial to Open Sesame, which has a Middle Eastern menu and wine and beer. Recommended for vegetarians is the vegetarian platter, which has a little of everything savory and spicy—stuffed grape leaves, falafel, hummus, pickles that’ll turn your cheeks inside out, tabouleh salad and the best baba ghannouj ever—smoky aftertaste.
