Art in a New Place, an exhibition presented by the Art Exchange (ARTX) and the Venice Institute of Contemporary Art (ViCA) will open on Saturday and feature nearly 40 works including drawings, paintings, sculpture and photography from internationally known artists, ARTX announced this week.

Heralding from Long Beach, San Pedro, and greater Southern California, the exhibition includes works by Peter Alexander, Sonja Schenk, Barbara Kolo, John Eden, Linda Sue Price and Ned Evans.

“I’m very proud of this exhibit and look forward to its presentation to the community,” curator Ron Nelson said in a statement. “The Art Exchange has become an important venue for showcasing established and emerging artists’ works and this exhibit contains an exciting combination in several medium by both.”

Nelson, who is also the executive director of the Long Beach Museum of Art and a board member at ARTX, selected works from the ViCA 2017 catalog.

ViCA Director Juri Koll said the institute believes showing works by both well known and up-and-coming artists preserves and promotes their creative community.

“[…]In this case we’ve included those from The Long Beach/San Pedro Harbor area, which has become another creative hub for Southern California,” Koll said in a statement.

The public is invited to the opening reception of Art in a New Place on Saturday from 6:00PM to 9:00PM. The exhibition will run through May 6.

ARTX is located at 356 East 3rd Street.
