Local nonprofit Khmer Girls in Action (KGA) will host the 12th annual Yellow Lounge at Beach Academy on Saturday, June 2, showcasing youth culture and talent while also educating the community on KGA’s current campaigns, according to organizers.
This free event will begin at 4:00PM. Visitors will be able to check out the art galleries and purchase raffle tickets for prizes and food tastings that feature a preview of “A Taste of Mekong” food experience.
Since youth from historically under-resourced and over-policed communities are most vulnerable during this time of year, Yellow Lounge decided this year’s theme will be “Show Youth the Love: Keep Loving, Keep Fighting,” organizers said.
Through theater, poetry, dance, music and art, the public will hear youths’ stories and what they are doing to fight back and empower communities.
Parking is free upon availability. RSVP here.
Beach Academy is located at 3701 East Willow Street.
